Our Aims and Objectives
Main Objectives
* To give support, information and advice where appropriate, to patients and their families, carers and friends who experienced any form of cancer.
* To welcome everyone equally and take steps to make the group open and accessible.
* To make sure everyone in the group understands and respects confidentiality.
* To listen to each other and respond sensitively.
* To provide accurate and practical information but not to give medical advice or make recommendations inappropriately.
Committee
* There shall be a single management committee for the group consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and two other members.
* There will be an Annual General Meeting held annually to receive a report on progress of the group in meeting its key performance indicators, receive a financial statement and elect the committee.
Membership
* Membership will be open to all who have been diagnosed with cancer, their families, carers and friends.
Finance
* The group’s funds are independent of any other organisation. The committee will ensure that funds will be raised through grants, donations, subscriptions or fund raising to support the group.
* All funds are held in the bank account for which the office bearers are signatories. Any two of the office bearers are authorised to sign on behalf of the group.
Training
* The committee will ensure that adequate training is offered to group members and that professional input will be available as required.
